British Equestrian Federation Independent Review

Sport Resolutions is administering the British Equestrian Federation ("BEF") Indepedent Review.

The Review's Terms of Reference can be accessed via the related links tab on the right-hand side together with a Pro Forma to be completed if you wish for the Review Panel to consider your submissions.

Panellists:

John Mehrzad l  ​Independent Chair

John is a barrister at Littleton Chambers where he is Head of the Sports Law Group. He specialises in employment, commercial and sports law disputes, being ranked by legal directories as a leading barrister in all areas of his practice. He is a member of the Sports Resolutions pro bono panel of advocates, is a Chair of the FA Chairman’s independent anti-discrimination panel and was a member of the independent review panel commissioned by UK Sport and British Cycling into the culture and climate, including allegations of discrimination and bulling, in the World Class Programme at British Cycling.

Sharon Scotson  l  Independent Investigator

Sharon is a retired Detective Chief Inspector who has worked in the Public Protection Arena over many years. As an experienced Senior Investigating Officer, she has investigated numerous serious and high-profile cases. She has led teams of investigators in cases of Child Protection, Child Sexual Exploitation, Trafficking, Adult Abuse, Domestic Abuse, Rape and Serious Sexual Offences. She has been a manager of a Serious Case Review Unit and a member of both the Manchester Child Death Overview Panel and MAPPA. Sharon is currently employed as a lead investigator.  

Ben Ewart  l  Independent Investigator 

Ben Ewart has undertaken a variety of investigative and leadership positions within the police service, including Detective Chief Inspector and Senior Investigating Officer for safeguarding and serious and organised crime. He has led a number of complex and sensitive enquiries, including child abuse and homicide investigations, as well as facilitated in the training of senior Detectives. Ben is an experienced MAPPA chair and lead for multi-agency safeguarding and crime panels. In addition to his police service Ben is the Director of a performance and assessment consultancy, working UK-wide.
