UFC fighter Ruslan Magomedov receives lifetime ban
The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) have announced a lifetime sanction has been imposed on UFC fighter Ruslan Magomedov following his third anti-doping violation.
The Russian is the first fighter to receive a lifetime ban, effectively ending his UFC athletic career. Magomedov had previously served a two-year suspension for a failed drug test in 2016. He subsequently tested positive for metabolites of an anabolic steroid in October 2018.
The 32 year-old then refused to complete a sample collection process during an out-of-competition test in February 2019, without compelling justification. This resulted in his third doping violation under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy and has consequently been banned for life.
More information on the sanction can be found on the USADA website here.
