Three Thai Tennis umpires given life bans for match-fixing and betting offences

Anucha Tongplew, Apisit Promchai and Chitchai Srililai, have been banned for life from officiating at or attending any professional tennis events, after being found guilty of match-fixing and betting offences.

The investigation was carried out by the Tennis Integrity Unit who are committed to a zero tolerance approach to corruption in Tennis.

All three chair umpires admitted to betting on tennis matches at ITF Future tournaments held in 2017 were they were all officiating. The trio also manipulated scores inputted into the official scoring system for betting purposes and personal profit.

The TIU said the lifetime bans were effective immediately and prohibit each “from ever officiating at, or attending, any sanctioned events organised or recognised by the governing bodies of the sport.”
