Sixteen More Russian Athletes Cleared for Competition By IAAF
The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) has approved the application of a further sixteen Russian athletes to compete internationally as neutral athletes.
The IAAF Doping Review Board agreed that the applications had met the "exceptional eligibility criteria" required to compete in international competition as neutral athletes under competition Rule 22.1A(b).
The participation of the 16 athletes as neutral athletes in international competition is still subject to formalities for eligibility under IAAF Rules being completed and subject to acceptance of their entries by individual meeting organisers.
The approved list now includes:
Viktor Butenko (discus),Timofey Chalyy (400m hurdles), Danil Danilov (hammer), Olga Eliseeva (race walks - European U20 Championships only), Alexey Fedorov (triple jump), Irina Gemeniuk (triple jump), Irina Gordeeva (high jump), Viacheslav Kolesnichenko (sprints), Alexsandr Lesnoi (shot put), Konstantin Lyadusov (shot put), Iuliia Maltseva (discus), Alena Mamina (sprints), Alexsandr Menkov (long jump), Viktoriia Prokopenko (triple jump), Ilya Shkurenev (decathlon), and Valentin Smirnov (middle distance).
This takes the tally of athletes cleared to compete as neutrals to 39 in total.
