Kelly Sotherton to Receive Third Olympic Bronze

Kelly Sotherton to Receive Third Olympic Bronze

Ex-Heptathlete and Olympian Kelly Sotherton is set to be upgraded to an Olympic Bronze from Beijing 2008. This is the Briton's second medal promotion in five months, following retrospective drug tests on Russian athletes.

Kelly, who won her first Olympic Bronze in Greece 2004, recently discovered she would receive a second from Beijing 2008 for the 4x400m relay. The GB quartet where honoured with their medals back in November following disqualification of the Russian and Belarus teams.

In 2008 Kelly finished fifth in the Heptathlon. Following the doping ban for Ukranian Lyudmila Blonska Kelly was moved up to fourth, and now with the recent ban for Russian Tatyana Chernova she has been elevated in to the bronze medal position.

This makes Kelly only the sixth Great British woman to win three Olympic medals in athletics.
