William Norris QC
William Norris QC has a broad common law practice with extensive experience in sports law as well as in personal injury and sex abuse cases. He is the General Editor of ‘Kemp and Kemp: the Quantum of Damages’, Consultant Editor of ‘Kemp, Practice and Procedure’ and co-author of a new textbook on head injury investigation and litigation to be published by Sweet & Maxwell later in 2017. He has been involved in many cases where the issue has been the nature and extent of the duty of care in a sporting context including the well-known CA authority of Poppleton v Portsmouth YAC (indoor climbing centre) and several involving ski-ing. As an advocate (and undistinguished ex-Amateur NH jockey) he has been involved in many horse/racing related disciplinary hearings as well as civil litigation arising out of sporting accidents. He is a member of the Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority and sits as one of the chairmen of the National Anti-Doping Panel and of Sport Resolutions general panel. He is a trustee and chairman of the Case Committee of the Injured Jockeys Fund and a keen sailor competing in one-design keelboats.
