John Palmer


John Palmer is a Corporate Communications, Marketing and Public Relations Consultant specialising in start-up, repositioning, merger and take-over, and crisis management. Sport has featured prominently throughout his career, from starting as a rugby correspondent in Wales and going on to chair the ITV Network Sports Marketing and Publicity Committee whilst at Central and Carlton UK TV, co-founding the Professional Cricketers’ Association fundraising business PCA Management, to being a co-founding Trustee in establishing the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust. Whilst at Sheffield Hallam University, he initiated, negotiated and managed unique partnerships with the Organising Committees of the Beijing, London and Sochi Olympics and the Delhi and Glasgow Commonwealth Games which gave hundreds of Hallam students jobs in the media centres at these events. He also created and managed the "Lighting the Flame For Sport" brand, under which Sheffield companies earned millions of pounds of business by jointly promoting their services and products for major sports events like the Olympic Games. At JCB he created and managed a two-year sponsorship of the American Superbowl and a partnership with London Irish RFC. He has also worked with senior rugby clubs to develop community and fundraising programmes.

John is a member of the Management Board and is Senior Independent Director of the company. He is also a member of the Marketing and Service Development Committee (MSDC) at Sport Resolutions (UK).
