Sport Resolutions is the premier arbitrator and mediator of disputes in sport, having helped to resolve over one thousand disputes across 50 sports, since its first case 20 years ago. Sport Resolutions has consistently grown in stature and reputation, now dealing with over 180 matters each year, many at international level, with the most high-profile cases receiving extensive media coverage.
This independent, not-for-profit organisation now needs to ensure that it is fit and robust enough to successfully handle what is a constantly growing workload.
Sport Resolutions aims to expand its core services and fulfil its wider potential by embracing new areas of related activity in education, advocacy, policy making and thought leadership, both nationally and internationally.
Sport Resolutions will increasingly seek to diversify its sources of income, commercially as well as through statutory funding, so that more can be re-invested in protecting the integrity and fairness of sport.
Sport Resolutions hears and resolves cases from grass roots to high profile clients including UK Anti-Doping and the Athletics Integrity Unit of World Athletics. It also provides extensive support for practitioners and students of dispute resolution via training; advice; conferences, workshops and seminars; extensive case history information and learning materials for academics and students.
To carry on the inspiring work of its retiring Chair, Edwin Glasgow CBE, QC, who has overseen a significant growth in workload, income and profile, it is looking for someone who will have already demonstrated the skills required to deal with its broad range of stakeholders, including Government bodies; international and national federations; athletes; event organisers; lawyers and educationalists.
The successful candidate will have substantial board-level experience, ideally as chair, combined with an interest in sport and effective dispute resolution.
They will have the vision, energy, sense of purpose and commitment necessary to lead a strong and confident organisation through the next crucial stage of its development so that it successfully achieves its goals.
Remuneration: £10k per annum
Commitment: approx. 20 days per year
Term: maximum two terms of four years
